Shetland is big enough to matter, but small enough that we can make a difference. What happens in Shetland is part of a worldwide spontaneous change as we cast off the shackles to live our lives as we wish. We welcome visitors to witness the emergence of a new way of living. Shetland is a magic place. Those who would simply want to destroy it for their own selfish greed are doing the same throughout the world. Come and see what we are doing about it.
We live in a world of abundance, but that abundance has been cornered by a very few, who have then promoted the idea of scarcity for their own ends like a parasitic beast. Those people, who run the big supra-national organisations, hedge funds, corporations and governments, kept us in fear and dependence - the ultimate protection racket. There are people inside and outside of Shetland who follow the same agenda for their own benefit, operating a giant scam that has been going on for centuries. Their day is over.
What they most fear is now happening - we, those docile farmed animals, are realising our power, breaking free and simply turning our backs on their corrupt system. The UK is a monarchy, meaning one sovereign. The Sovereign Nation of Shetland is an omnarchy - all are sovereign. Rather than levelling down with fear and dependency, we give everyone the possibility to rise to their true potential. That is the goal of The Sovereign Nation of Shetland. Working together to our mutual advantage secures our future as we enter the world of abundance, which already exists, but whose abundance has been cornered by a few for their own advantage.
We do not need a government to rule over us. We need an administration to serve our needs - to be in the service of the people.
Freedom of Information requests in February 2025 reveal that nobody exercising power in Shetland, from the UK government downwards, can show how they have the authority to exercise that power. Our members do not pay Council Tax, Income Tax or VAT on their businesses. We are able to travel in our cars without UK documentation:
This is the letter from the prosecution saying they are not going to prosecute. This would be a routine matter for any other motorist, who would have been in court and convicted in short order.
We are getting results in Shetland because we have not backed down and we have learned. Our members have been sent to prison in the past, but not any more. Those who are most securely confined simply cannot see the bars. Once you see how the system works, there's no turning back.
To give an example of how those in power manipulate things to their advantage: The official input/output figures for 2010 showed that after we paid all our direct and indirect taxes and got back all the subsidies we need to run Shetland, there was £81 million every year left in the UK treasury - about £8,100 per household with which we subsidise the UK. This does not take into account the oil, which still dwarfs everything else. That money has been (and is being) quietly siphoned away, with nobody saying a word.
Change is inevitable. We don't have to pay UK taxes, we can have half price fuel and have full control of our own affairs, our land and seas, the country shops will be able to compete on level terms with the supermarkets and keep our money in the community - and more. There is not a single valid mortgage in Shetland. Change is happening gradually at first as each one stands up to take responsibility and stops supporting the lie. It is unstoppable as people realise they can no longer aid and abet a crime. Change is happening so fast, it is catching everybody by surprise.
Movements in the past have failed because they have not confronted the sovereignty issue. We are - and we have the teeth to make it happen. Charles III is not our king. The UK Crown has no authority in Shetland. The UK and Scottish governments have no authority here - by their own laws and by their own admission. Our Freedom of information requests reveal that they have nothing to show how Shetland is part of Scotland. Now we have the truth - by the definition in The Laws of Scotland, Shetlanders are sovereign in their own right and Shetland belongs to the people of Shetland.
In any negotiations with the UK or Scottish governments, the first question to ask must be "Do you have what we want?" Nobody ever does. Nobody asks "Do you have ownership of the seas around Shetland" in fishery negotiations, "Do you have ownership of the seabed?" in oil negotiations, "Do you have ownership of Shetland's land?" for windfarm developments, "Do you have the authority to stop us having whatever degree of autonomy we wish?". "Do you have ownership of anything at all concerning Shetland?" The answer is "No" - and we now have it in writing.
"If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it".
Attributed to Goebbels, but he he might as well have been speaking about Shetland. He went on to say:
"The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State". We have the truth and they don't like it one bit.
They don't like it to the extent that they will do almost anything to shut us down. We have endured personal abuse in court, bias, unfair judgments - all the things you might expect in a third world country, including unlawful imprisonment. As a result, our experience has built up to the point where, by using their legislation and rules, we have made ourselves impervious to their interference.
The prosecutor is unable to bring any case against our members because he knows he will be held to his duty to show the court how it has both personal and territorial jurisdiction. He cannot do it (as explained in Stolen Isles. Without the backing of the courts, the police leave us alone. Our site Stay Out of Court will give you some pointers on this.
This not just about 'beating the system'. It's about helping the world to move into that world of abundance - our rightful inheritance. It has a profoundly spiritual aspect because we are aligning ourselves with a greater power. We act as a magnet for the thoughts in our head - the Law of Attraction. This is something everybody does completely naturally - it's an innate ability. Most people have either random or negative thoughts and they attract those people and events accordingly. Thoughts with a strong focus on the truth have far more strength than those with a focus on the lie. We are invincible against the lies as long as we focus on the truth.
Although we have no religious affiliations, we respect those of others. We take a single quote from the Bible, Ephesians 4:6, which says:
"One God, father of all, who is above all and through all and in you all". With no need for an intermediary, we recognise that each of us has God within.
Our creed is 7 words: "I am a man/woman having God within".
Our law is 7 words: "Do no harm and honour your contracts".
Our truth is 7 words: "I own my land. I am sovereign*".

*We define 'land' as both the soil of the earth and our body and it is also our policy to ensure that everyone is the same sovereign status, so new people joining are give a token piece of land if they do not already have their own. In future it is hoped that it will be big enough to build a house on.
